You Are Not Your Human Design

What if I said that what you see in your Human Design bodygraph is not actually who you are? Would it sit uncomfortably with you? Would your mind analyze and explain the opposing thought, especially if you have been studying and integrating Human Design into your life? Don’t worry, it makes me question it bluntly as well…and I am the one writing it!

As I sit here and think about all the ways Human Design has helped me identify with so much certainty and uncertainty, it’s also very real that the way Human Design has been delivered has been incomplete and half true.

A Language of Energetic Expressions

Understanding Energetic Flow

In Human Design, we tend to give ourselves labels like “I am this” and “I have this gate, so I am that,” etc. The truth is, once you start to understand the behaviors, traits, and flow of consistent and inconsistent energies in your chart, you can begin to explore how they move through your body. Think of all those elements in your chart as a filtration system. Your spirit is filtering through a variety of expressions at all times. Your environment adds another layer of complexity to what is already running through you.

The Filtration System of Human Design

In Human Design, the various energies and elements in someone's chart can be seen as a filtration system that shapes how they experience and interact with the world.

The Unfiltered World (The City)

This represents the vast array of energies, experiences, and interactions one encounters daily. It is a chaotic mix of influences, much like a bustling city.

Human Design Chart (The Filtration System)

This is the unique configuration of your centers, channels, gates, type, strategy, and authority. Each element in the chart acts as a filter that determines how you process and respond to the world around you.

Centers (The Different Filters)

The defined and undefined centers in your chart act as different types of filters, each handling specific aspects of energy. Defined centers consistently filter and process energy in a fixed way, while undefined centers are more variable and influenced by external factors.

• Defined Centers: Like fixed filters that always allow certain energies through in a consistent manner.
• Undefined Centers: Like adaptable filters that change based on external influences and the environment.

Type and Strategy (The Entrance Criteria)

Your type and strategy guide how you should best engage with the world and make decisions, much like the criteria for who gets into the party.

• Generators: Should respond to life’s invitations and opportunities, filtering through their sacral response.
• Manifestors: Should inform others of their actions, filtering through their need for initiation.
• Projectors: Should wait for recognition and invitation, filtering through their ability to guide others.
• Reflectors: Should wait through a lunar cycle to make decisions, filtering through their sampling of the environment.

Authority (The Final Say)

This is the ultimate decision-making filter that determines what is correct for you, ensuring that the energies and experiences that pass through align with your true self.

Channels and Gates (Specific Criteria and Pathways)

These are like specific rules and pathways within the filtration system that direct how certain types of energy flow and are processed. They determine which specific qualities and energies you are naturally aligned with and how you express them.

Example

Imagine you are a Projector with Emotional Authority and a defined G Center.

• The world is the city: You encounter a myriad of experiences and energies daily.
• Your Projector type and strategy: Act as the criteria at the party entrance, filtering out experiences and opportunities that don’t recognize and invite you.
• Your Emotional Authority: Acts as a final filter, ensuring that even among recognized and invited experiences, only those that feel right after riding out the emotional wave get through.
• Your defined G Center: Consistently filters through a fixed sense of direction and identity, ensuring that you stay true to yourself.

In this way, your Human Design chart acts as a sophisticated filtration system, allowing you to navigate the complexities of life in a way that is uniquely correct and aligned for you.

Looking at Human Design this way can help eliminate the restriction or box we humans like to keep ourselves in. With all this said, I hope to point you in a direction that allows you to feel and BE limitless in how you came here to express and filter through experiences in your life. When we begin our journey home through self-realization, we begin to mindfully craft our life in ways we never thought possible.

Human Design is a key component to that journey home. Use it for guidance, not for absolution. For we live in a world that holds no such thing. We are here to live consciously. So play and filter away!
